Tell HN: Network solution added .online to all of our domains
We have a number of very old domains that have been with network solutions since the late 1990s. Today we get a renewal notice for olddomain.online
log into our account to find all of these, and being redirected to our domain.
After like an hour of trying to track down the various people in our org who could have possibly done this. Our accountant find an email sent to her, saying as we have been "upgraded" as part of network solutions "Brand Protection Program"
Anyone else with network solutions notice this on your domains?
Same thing happened to one of my domains. Network solution added the .info domain and I got the same email. Moving all my domains out of NetSol now.
They did the same thing for us once where they “upgraded” us to a better tier and the DNS migration we never asked for went bad. They were very difficult to get ahold of because we didn’t have a high enough tier of service. It was awful. Shame on us for not paying for a high quality vendor for such a critical service…but still.
We switched everyone over as quickly as we reasonably could right after that.
It's 2022, you're about 20 years late to leaving Network Solutions. If you didn't leave as soon as you could (circa 2000), maybe you should have left one of the last few times they had a high profile security incident.
I haven't noticed it on the domains I manage through NetSol. Did someone sign up for the Brand Protection Program? They make it really simple to upsell yourself.
