Ask HN: Is the Bay Area/Silicon Valley still the best place to start a startup?

While I don’t think there’s significant upside for someone who starts a company to live the Bay Area versus another tech hub, I would like to hear others’ opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of starting a startup in SV.

Curious to hear thoughts on the benefits of the startup networks, high circulation of VCs/capital, and high concentration of like minded individuals in SV that give it an edge.

      Could you elaborate?

It would be hard for me personally to trust the medical and school system with my child in China.

If you are rich enough I'm sure there are private alternatives, but you still live in a totalitarian country where especially as a foreigner you can get on the wrong end of the argument quickly.

For single young person I would recommend going, but its not the best place for foreigner families, unless you are either very rich or very connected to higher ups.
