Ask HN: Moving from Software Engineering to Finance as a Dropout?
I'm 22 and have been working as a SWE for the past 4 years at various startups, unicorns.
In 3 years, I got promoted 3 times and started leading a team of 4 engineers. Also my GitHub has some popular projects with over 3,000 stars, I consider my self above-average engineer and I think I can have a great career in engineering.
But since I was a teenager, I'm obsessed with the stock market and been actively investing since I started working and it come to a point that investing is much more fun, I'm considering transitioning to a role in finance but as a self-taught engineer/developer with no college degree, is it possible to crash into finance?
Finance is not investing. Please talk to people who work in the field before you make the jump.
22 is not too old to do anything.
