I'm psyched to see the market evolve in this way. All you need to do is look under the hood of an ICE car and you'll understand that electric cars can be dramatically cheaper than ICE cars. It's just a question of figuring out the right size for the batteries. I'm guessing they're getting the price down with a smaller battery. That may be all that some people need for daily driving, but it will exclude some long distance travellers.

This could be a great additional commuter car if you already have an ICE (or longer range EV) for those longer trips (or are willing to rent one if such trips are infrequent enough).

The perks of a smaller battery are that it should take less time to get to a full charge and the car should be lighter overall (meaning potentially more energy efficient and less tire wear).

I don’t think having two different cars for long distances & short distances are sustainable.

Many (most?) households have two cars, so I can see having a cheap shorter range EV for commuting and weekend errands, and a longer range car available for the other adult and longer range trips.

Yeah, tyres on heavy vehicles are a real extra cost!

Interesting to see what the range is - wiki lists the Ray at 86 to 127 mi, depending on which type of battery it has
