The union isn’t recognized officially yet, right? As I recall this was tied up in accusations that the teamsters intimidated workers into voting for them? Can they legally authorize a strike in the current setting?

    The union is very much official, has been since 2022. It was formed independently of the Teamsters and is called the Amazon Labour Union (ALU). The ALU voted to partner with the Teamsters this summer in order to strengthen their hand and resources as they fight to get Amazon to negotiate with them.

    Accusations of intimidation are just that, accusations, and they are only coming from Amazon. Furthermore, the ALU was formed independently of other established unions.

    So yes, they can authorize a strike, they are a legal recognized union that Amazon has refused to meet with.
