I'm willing to forgive technical issues for a small company, but, if a company doesn't build to respect user privacy when it's small, then it's certainly not going to start doing so once it gets bigger.

This just seems plain illegal. It's affiliate fraud. In the past, people have gone to prison for things like cookie stuffing.
