Recommending anything is usually a no-win. It's maybe one time in 10 it even leads to a listen or a read, and 1 time in 100 they like it, and 1 time in 1000 they love it the way you hoped.
If people recommend books to me, there's a fair chance I can't get over the issues here to read it. I have a stack of reading ideas. I don't want to re-prioritise just to please you, or ignore you, or reject you: all these are about least-worst choices.
I am not an author, but I am told authors have two dreads: 1) that you want to talk about one of their dead children, instead of the ones you are nuturing to give birth to soon 2) that you have some brilliant idea which can kill one of your nurturing children because plagiarism, or "now you like it I can't"
I liked the aphex twin song being a hard match for complex formulae.
I will say tidal and plex both recommend in a soft manner. "this is similar" and "if you explore <here> you will see what others listen to, who listen to this" and "this is what the threaded model of relationships are, in space time and nathaniel, for that tune you just played" -and it is often on the money.
I love the 60s. Almost any hot 100 playlist for the 60s will occasionally throw up "battle song of the marines" or somesuch because.. the 60s were crazy, and somebody snowed the playlists back then and got a pro-vietnam war song high on the charts. Or "Colonel Bogey's march" because "bridge over the river Kwai" was a hit. Man, way to kill the mood. (ok, the list of whistling songs in the 60s is also immense)
