elaus 4 days ago Very happy with using Immich[1] for self-hosting a Google Photos alternative. Feels good to not push all those private memories to big tech. What would be the main differences to Ente Photos? The on-by-default encryption?[1] https://immich.app/ senectus1 4 days ago I built an immich instance, and ported my whole family over to it and its gone so smoothly I became a paid member.Immich is right up there with blender and krita etc etc. igor47 4 days ago Ditto! Immich development has also been pretty steady erellsworth 4 days ago +1 for Immich. It was easy to setup and they aren't pushing any kind of subscription bullshit.

TSUTiger 4 days ago For those who have used both, how does this compare with Memories[0] -- it was still open in one of my tabs :)[0] https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39783223
turtlebits 7 hours ago Tried Ente a few months ago. It was a pain to self host. Went to Immich and its much easier. I'm on the fence for moving off of a hosted option as both of these don't seem to have great backup/DR solutions.
porridgeraisin 4 days ago I really like https://github.com/photoprism/photoprism OptionOfT 4 days ago It's great, but it doesn't have its own application for uploads, and the PhotoSync one they tell you to use is much less useful than say Immich's one. zuntaruk 4 days ago Curious if you've tried either Ente or Immich? Would be interested in your take on them from your perspective
