Mozilla's primary customer is Google.

As a result, it should come as no surprise when their actions and interests move toward alignment.

> Mozilla doesn't sell data about you (in the way that most people think about "selling data"), and we don't buy data about you. Since we strive for transparency, and the LEGAL definition of "sale of data" is extremely broad in some places, we've had to step back from making the definitive statements you know and love.

Am I the only one who reads that as "Mozilla will sell data about you, but we'll be indirect about it"?

They will link your unique Firefox ID to your Google Analytics ID --- and let Google take it from there. But the mere fact that Google is the source of almost all their income doesn't necessarily mean that anything is technically being "sold".

"This data will allow us to correlate telemetry IDs with download tokens and Google Analytics IDs".

How long are we going to try to cook this nothingburger?

I thought is was much ado about nothing until I heard Mozilla's clarifications. Now I suspect something really has changed in an unpleasant way.

At least all this nonsense only applies to the binaries and the terms don't apply if you build it yourself or use a build someone other than Mozilla made.
