They are pushing for us to use AI and expecting huge productivity gains based on the promises of the AI hype men. Sanity checks unfortunately eat away most if not all of those productivity gains, so I feel like most people are being put between a rock and a hard place and we will keep seeing stories like this for a while until business guys start to accept reality.
That these consulting firms are still in business is a damning indictment of capitalism.
Back when I paid close attention to business news a week would not go by without a story about incompetence, laziness and or other malfeasance by them.
After Enron they reigned in (mostly) their blatant criminality but the same dirty dishonest people are still in charge
It's concerning that no-one sanity checked the report before submitting it. It would be fairly trivial to check that the references were real.
