OrbStack has created with what I consider to be a very clever shell that can "overlay" on top of any arbitrary running container, including remote docker hosts. It can be run even if the underlying container is so minimal that it doesn't have a shell installed.
I'm posting for two reasons. 1) I think this is clever. 2) I've been looking for a way to make a personalizable and portable shell/environment that is independent from the system that I'm logged into, and this is the closest I've ever seen anyone come to it. If anyone knows of similar approaches (for docker or ssh or remote administration), I'd love to hear about it.
