To be fair this years Pro models are thicker than last years, and most of that extra space went to a bigger battery. Maybe not as big as you'd like, but it's something.
Rumour is that Samsungs similar Galaxy Edge isn't doing any better, apparently they initially wanted to replace their longstanding Plus model with the Edge next year, then they decided to keep the Plus after all, and now they've possibly cancelled the Edge altogether after just one generation.
Maybe they both should have waited until they could use silicon-carbon batteries to offset the smaller size.
Are Apple troubled by this apparent misjudging recently? Siri, Apple Intelligence, ios/mac 26 'liquid glass', and now a thin phone with no demand. Where was the research? Squandering vast amounts of money on pointless fluff. I suppose that's it - they can.
Customers: We will happily have a slightly thicker phone if it means getting another half a day of battery
Apple: The thinnest iphone yet!
