Were Claude's Weekly Limits Cut in Half? (and obscured by another 50% "deal"?)
The "50% higher" capacity through August 31 ended last night. Until then, 100% use of a 5-hour session would use 10% of my weekly capacity.
Today, there's a new "50% higher" capacity message through September 13.
But I'm burning capacity at 2x the rate. 100% of a 5-hour session is now using 20% of my weekly capacity, not 10%.
Is anyone else seeing this? I'm on a max plan, btw.
It does seem to swing a bit from week to week.
Somethings do take surprisingly more tokens than others. EG: generate some code vs search the web to find me the best hiking boots for less than £100.
My weekly usage randomly reset this morning. I was only at ~25%, and my normal reset is Saturday at 4:00am. So, not sure what happened there.
Not just Claude. For me, anyways, google ai and chatgpt swing from vapid to genius on a daily basis. These companies are obviously searching for some kind of sustainable business model, and trying to get us to upgrade to higher paid tiers.
Honestly, I don't know why they bother charging. Surely they are gathering more information about what people want to do and want to buy than search engines ever possibly could.
Do you want to open a "hello kitty" theme park in wyoming? People are voluntarily telling AIs every day whether that would be a valid business for not. Selling that kind of aggregated information -- heck, giving venture capital to startups they know will succeed--is surely far more profitable than nickel and diming us.
